The Governors of 2008 expect to continue the level of success that has been achieved here since 2000. The Governors have finished second three times, third place twice, and fourth place once in the last seven seasons. With a seven year record of 144-92 and 64-34 in district play, the goals for the 2008 team are set at a high level. When practice begins on February 11, 2008, we will strive to take the Governors past the District and into the Regional Tournament. I am excited about our 2008 Team. Returning are veterans Tyler Burstrom, Aaron Garland, Travis Webb, Kevin Houser, Nathan Chapman, and Mac McCord. Juniors are Michael Cunningham, Jordan Childres, Ricky Robinson, and Evan Haywood, who are expected to make significant contributions to the varsity team this year. We are also excited about our JV team that will be coached by Donald Balcolm and Matt Talley. We now provide for our students one of the best high school baseball facilities in our area. The effort we receive from the parents of our baseball players play a major role in the success of our program. Our gratitude goes out to those who are helping on the grounds crew, in the concession stand, and the press box. To those individuals and companies who generously donated to the baseball program here at William Blount, we would like you to know your contributions are greatly appreciated.
